Who is the man behind the
new and improved high school? I am a senior at Rappahannock County High School. There have been some significant changes at this institution in the past four years. I have realized the positive effect of Jack Raines’ “reins” during his “reign.” I want to thank the man who has helped steer my “course.”
There have always been rules at the high school. Now they are being enforced. I was a very impressionable eighth grader. I remember vividly all the fighting within the school. I was astonished by the free passage of drugs and smoking among students. Some of these incidents were handled appropriately, many were not. Tbday, these issues are few.
llie attendance/tardy policy is effective. Since penalties are inflicted on “offenders,” I have an incentive not to be late. Being on time has become a habit to most students. Being prompt has improved my self esteem.
Raines is strict. It’s because he cares. Our principal knows each of us by name. He looks over every report card and writes a comment on it before it’s issued. He’s sort of like Santa — “He’s gonna find out who’s naughty or nice.”
