The Lions’ priority in implementing their “We Serve” motto is to direct the funds that are raised each 1 year to the needs of our neighbors in Rappahannock County. The primary focus has always been to evaluate and respond to sight and hearing requirements, espe- ' daily among our school children. Lion fundraising activi- / ty provides the annual resources to continue these and many other programs.
Currently the club mem- '* bers are selling their famous apple butter. This process requires many man-hours and all Lions participate to pick and cut, to cook, bottle and sell the product. So when you . see our yellow hats along U.S. > 211 in front of the Farmers’ > Cooperative, stop and pick up , a pint or a quart... or even a case. If you buy a case of 12 you get two jars free.
Our biggest fundraiser of the year is the Grand Raffle and Dinner Dance, scheduled at the Lakeside Swim Club, just outside of Culpeper on U.S. 522, Saturday, Nov. 8. The grand prize is $5,000, but there are many other prizes of $50 and $100, throughout the drawing. It’s great fun and all for a good cause.
