Chamber Players, founded in 1976 by Weaver, remains the vanguard of groups specializing in historically oriented performances of master works of the baroque, classical and romantic eras.
Comprised of accomplished musicians who share an eipertise in the music, instruments and performance practices of those periods, the Chamber Players has been an integral part of the Smithsonian Institution’s pioneering role in the exploration of this rich cultural heritage. With numerous best-selling records to its credit, the Smithsonian Chamber Players enjoys a broad audience based on its concert tours and regular nationwide radio broadcasts. It fills a key role in the Smithsonian Chamber Music Society, the largest museum-residency periodinstrument program in the world.
