Cooper also teaches co-ed PE and coaches for a local community soccer team. She expects to be an assistant girls’ soccer coach in the spring or may be involved in cross country competition.
Wakefield will host a summer series of daytime sports clinics in basketball, volleyball and soccer. The clinics will be open to students and other U.S. residents. In addition to the school’s faculty, parents and other trained coaches will make up the staff.
For part of the summer, however, Eley plans an overseas adventure. He will teach English to students in Slovakia, in central Europe, with a church mission group.
In the meantime, coaches and students are training for their final Presidential Physical Fitness tests, and two traditional Wakefield events. Students in grades 1-7 will participate in The Great Ghost Chase, a cross-country run over obstacles, while Field Day, held in May, sees the “Athenians” take on the “Spartans” in the annual school-wide competition.
