Masters of Light is the first exhibition in America to highlight the exceptional achievements of the Utrecht painters.
It includes 74 paintings exhibiting some of the most luminous and deeply moving masterpieces created in a century known for outstanding art.
Inspired by the Italian master Carravaggio, painters working in the city of Utrecht at the beginning of the 17th century found themselves entering the Golden Age of Dutch painting. Dutch masters such as Rembrandt and Vermeer were influenced by these dramatic and luminous scenes.
The Monet exhibit features the famous Japanese footbridge, magnificent water lilies, blooming roses, and colorful irises of Monet’s Givemy. Claude Monet considered his gardens at Giverny among his finest artistic achievements.
From 1903 until his death in 1926, he captured his gardens in vibrant hues and dramatic proportions — some paintings measuring more than six feet across and nearly as high.
The cost for the trip is $175 and includes transportation by van or bus, parking, one night stay in the Tremont Hotel (double room occupancy) with complimentary breakfast, museum tickets and guided tour of both shows.
