He also requested the committee hold their meetings the third Thursday of each month and all agreed. The next meeting is scheduled for April 16 at 7 p.m. at the Sperryville fire hall.
Woodward suggested a public forum be held to find out what people want to have in the community and asked for people to submit ideas to the committee or speak to members about ideas and plans they have.
Estes said once a project is decided upon it usually takes about a year from beginning to end to implement it.
Joy Sloane, president of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, advised the committee that everyone should get a copy of the book “Balancing Nature and Commerce in the Gateway Community” by Ed McMahon, Jim Howe and Luther Propst .and read it. A copy is available at the Rappahannock Library. Several members of the audience agreed with her regarding the books usefulness to the group.
