PRAYING FOR
YOUR HEALTH
It has long been believed that a direct relationship exists between prayer and healing, and proof of this is far from anecdotal. A review of more than 200 medical studies dating back to the 19th century indicates that religious commitment enhances health and that evidence shows prayer plays a therapeutic role in disease. Conversely, lack of spirituality seems to be a risk factor for higher rates of illness. A landmark 1988 study on the effects of intercessory prayer (praying on someone else's behalf) showed that, after ten months, patients who received prayers had fewer complications, needed less medication, and had a slightly better overall medical course than those who did not. All of this amply demonstrates the power of prayer. No matter what our religious persuasion, many of us fear death, and for many of us, prayer can offer comfort where little else can. Whatever your denomination, we are happy to serve you. If you find yourself in this situation, you need the best help available.
