The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, met at the Culpeper Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon, March 8 for the annual Awards Tea.
Honored were five area students from the Culpeper, Madison and Rappahannock County High Schools. One student was the winner of the Bronze Medal for the American History Essay Contest, a yearly national contest sponsored by the DAR.
Four students were the winners of the Good ' Citizenship Award, also a •yearly national contest sponsored by the DAR for high school seniors.
The Regent, Mrs. Irvin Kilby, welcomed DAR members, students and their families and guests to the afternoon ceremony. She thanked the hostesses Mrs. Leonard M. Cowherd, Mrs. Lloyd L. Epperly, Mrs. Michael P. Garrett, and Mrs. James Hand and the two grandchildren of . Mrs. Martin Bryson, a member, who gave out the programs.
Clay Puryear, grandson of member Mrs. Edgar F. Puryear Jr., presented the colors and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag.
Chairman of the Good , Citizens Committee, Mrs. Thomas L. Eastham, presented the Good Citizens Awards to one senior from each of the county high schools plus the Wakefield Country Day School.
