Several of Hensley’s neighbors did speak out at the BZA meeting, as they had at the meeting of the commission. Their concerns centered on the density of homes in the area — specifically the Hensley property and that of her family which is about 39 acres. The new apartment will bring the total to four homes on that property which is in an agricultural zone. There were concerns about how that would affect property values and traffic in the area.
The issue of what constitutes a family apartment also came up again, as it did at the meeting of the commission, but it was determined that the intention of Hensley to provide a living space for her sister was an appropriate use.
