Warner’s comments on the new sign saying he had received numerous compliments on it.
Warner requested that Shaffer send a letter formally requesting funds from the Rappahannock Lions Club for the specialty fund money to be used for the summer reading program.
Warner said the funds have been allotted but a request should be made. He also informed the board that the Lions will sponsor a diabetes program at the library on May 15.
Treasurer Helen Platt said everything looks good with the accounts and they have nearly $600 for the children’s program in the budget. She said there will be a balance left in the money budgeted for heating oil since the library’s system is so efficient.
In the committee reports, McCarthy said the finance committee is still working on soliciting names of possible purchasers for the shares of stock from the Gordon estate.
Joy Sloane reported that the building and grounds committee is moving the excess rocks from the front of the stone wall. She also told the board that some blue bird houses are being contributed to the library. All the board members were in favor of having the houses located behind the library once they are finished.
