It was pointed out that the title came by way of a deed of gift. The board decided a title examination should be done and title insurance should be purchased to ensure title in the event there is some future question about the issue.
Board member Jim Gannon pointed out that “the exploration of this idea of a cooperative venture with the historical society was not initiated or acted on by this board.”
In the director’s report, Shaffer said the summer reading program begins July 6 and special events for the program have been confirmed. The program will run until Aug. 7. He also told the board that the Friday Night library program for April 10 will feature Elisabeth Johnson, co-author of a history of Rappahannock County.
Johnson is a 63 year county resident and recognized as probably the most knowledgeable person on county history. He said in the event the turn out is large they may need to hold the event at one of the schools or fire halls. The event will include refreshments as usual.
Shaffer will attend the Virginia Public Library Director’s Association annual conference on April 30 at Graves Mt. Lodge. He also told the board that the monthly statistics are up from last year at this time and echoed
