Julia Quaintance Wood, 92, of Woodville, died on Friday, March 27 at her home.
She was born on Aug. 1, 1905 in Boston, Va. to the late Raymond Gardiner Quaintance and Lucy Coleman Pulliam Quaintance.
In a fashion career that spanned over 40 years, Mrs. Wood commuted between Woodville and Culpeper while working for E.J. Nottingham, Jr. and the Fashion Shoppe. With a flair for clothes and a natural bent for style, she enjoyed helping others.
She was a lifetime resident of Rappahannock County and a lifetime member of Woodville Baptist Church. She was well-known for her selflessness and consideration for others.
Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Henry B. Wood, Sr., and four brothers, Carroll Brown Quaintance, Raymond G. “Dike” Quaintance Jr., John W. Quaintance II, and George L. Quaintance.
She is survived by one son, Henry B. Wood, Jr. and his wife, Betty B. Wood, and one grandson, Henry B. Wood, III, and his wife, Angela Y. Wood, all of Woodville.
A graveside service was held on Monday, March 30 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cemetery in Woodville, with the Rev. Starke Jones and the Rev. Alpheus Atkins officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were Raymond Gardiner Quaintance II, John W. Quaintance III, Joseph H. Quaintance Jr., Charles L. Quaintance Jr., Gene L. Pulliam, F. Preston Pulliam, James Robert Bowen and Richard Monaco.
Found and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Suzanne Joyce Rossiter, 46, of Huntly died Saturday, March 21 in the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 1 at 7 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal.
Mrs. Rossiter was born Nov. 5, 1951 in Woodston, NJ. She was a Principle Social Worker for the Warren County Department of Social Services.
Surviving are a daughter Heather Rossiter of Huntly and a brother Gregory Walter of Mexico.
