Out with the old and in with the new was the order of the day at last week’s meeting of the Rappahannock Library Board. The board noted the new library sign now installed above the entrance and made plans to dispose of the old sign.
Board president, E. Franklin Warner said he had received many favorable comments on the new letters and thought they looked wonderful. He also said he was pleased with how well they can be seen from the highway.
The board formally ..thanked county administrator John McCarthy for arranging to purchase the letters and have them installed.
Warner also reported that library director David Shaffer had escorted some people from Rockingham County on a tour of the library. That area wants to construct a regional library and had heard about Rappahannock’s and wanted to see it.
The board discussed last months’ suggestion that the board should look into a joint venture with the Rappahannock Historical Society to jointly house a museum and visitor’s center. The society has indicated they wish to pursue the matter on their own. However,. Doug Baumgardner, president of the society, questioned the ability of the library to convey the
