l The 1999 Rappahannock County > tax bills have been mailed and ■■ must be paid on or before Dec. 5, to avoid a penalty. Since the Dec. 5 deadline falls on a Sunday in 1999, taxes will be accepted as timely if paid or postmarked by Monday, Dec. 6, 1999. The Rappahannock Treasurer’s Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For additional information call Treasurer Frances A. Foster at 675-3334.
Route 626 to be
closed Nov. 18, 19
The Virginia Department of Transportation will close Route 626 in Rappahannock County on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 18 and 19 from the intersection at U.S. 211 to Route 627. The closure is necessary to allow contractors to pave the narrow road. Crews will begin work both days at 7:30 a.m. and cease by 5 p.m.
Representative to
visit county Nov. 18
Mrs. Donna Crowley, a representative of Congressman Frank Wolf, will visit the town of Washington on Thursday, Nov. 18. Mrs. Crowley will be available to talk with constituents who need assistance or have problems of a Federal nature, such as with the Social Security Administration, Department of Labor, Immigration and Naturalization Service, Internal Revenue Service, Department of Veterans Affairs, etc. Mrs. Crowley will be at the Rappahannock County Extension Office from 2 to 3 p.m.
Authors Weekend
at Gray Ghost
Enjoy the opportunity to meet and speak with renowned authors at the third annual Civil War Authors Weekend.
