Fourth of July committee chair Charlie Tompkins raised some question as to the future of the Town's Fourth of July celebration when he reported on committee activities. He noted that the celebration was once the County’s premier event and, though it is still a big draw, “County people seem to find it stale. . . .the best vendors seem to be going elsewhere.” He also referred to resentment about parking restrictions and fees and of problems with the storage of fireworks when casting doubt about the future of the Fourth of July celebration.
