It was with concern that I read the article
about the History of CCLC in the Rappahannock News last week. While we appreciate the coverage about the CCLC Auction, there were a few inaccuracies that I feel compelled to correct. CCLC was started as a private primary school, an alternative to the public kindergarten, first and second in the early ‘70’s. It evolved into a preschool and day care to meet the needs of the community, growing to serve the younger children of Rappahannock and not provide primary schooling.
Our preschool curriculum, is based on active learning, which involves the manipulation of materials by the children (not the manipulation of children). Our children are encouraged (not forced) to make choices in their activities during the day, and to verbalize their choices and follow their plan in a portion of our day called “Plan-Do-Review.”
