He was a member of the Rivermont Baptist Church, a member * of the Front Royal Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #829 for 27 years and he attended school in Flint Hill.
Surviving besides his wife and mother are three sons, Hillard H. Tharp Jr. and Russell Tharp, both of Front Royal and Michael A. Tharp of Bentonville; two daughters, Wanda Himes and Sharon Settle, both of Front Royal; one stepson, Henry W. Fix Jr. of Birmingham, Ala and two stepdaughters, Hilda Thomas of Goosecreek, S.C. and Julie Figgins of Front Royal.
Additional survivors include four sisters, Rethula Berry of Harrisonburg, Elizabeth Clatterbuck and Eleanor Beverage, both of Front Royal and Nancy Noakes of Flint Hill; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a special companion, “Sassy”.
Funeral services were conducted at the Rivermont Baptist Church on Saturday, Nov. 13 with the Rev. Jerry Young officiating. Burial followed at the Panorama Memorial Gardens.
