Organizers and participants enjoyed the American Heart Association’s Turkeywalk held last Saturday in Old Hollow. Organizers included Eino Siira, Kay Harper, Cindy Mahan, Chairwoman Beverly Atkins, Marie Davis, Tammy Shaw, Rick Harper and Heart Association Area Director Jane Lienesch. Thirty-three walkers participated and raised1 more than the goal of $4,000 for the Heart Association. Dennis Wingfield was featured in this issue for his “weather watching” abilities. Reading his rain gauge is part of the twice-daily routine. The issue also featured a photograph of Dennis Wingfield and his family on a recent visit with Channel 4 meteorologist Bob Ryan. Rappahannock County High School celebrated its Homecoming the weekend of Oct. 27-28. Amy Noakes was presented as the 1989-90 Homecoming Queen. The Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District held its annual awards banquet at Graves Mt. Lodge in Syria on Oct. 26. Winning the Conservationist of the Year Award for Rappahannock County were Mary and Cliff Latham of Horner Hill Farm.
