Board of Supervisor’s member Mike Massie responded, after Sharp had left the meeting early, “I resent the fact that you all are asking us not to skimp.”

John McCarthy, Zoning Administrator and Board of Supervisor’s member, emphasized that the money would go to the construction of the ball fields, fencing for the backdrops, and the butterfly roof for the high school.

Any additional improvements such as dugouts, additional restrooms, and a concession stand would be up to the School Board. They would have to use their budget and, perhaps, acquire volunteer, community assistance.

The contract for the construction of the ball fields was awarded to the Samuel James Construction Co. out of Culpeper for $106,602.82.
