Makela says, “Basically, in a nutshell, I was surprised to lose this election. The job is very time consuming. It can be 30 to 40 hours a month. Obviously, there’s not any financial reward. We, get paid about $50 a month. No one’s doing this for the money.”
Makela’s campaign
Makela decided not to campaign as heavily this year due to the fact that he thought Cordani was dropping out of the race.
Makela says, “My level of campaigning is based on the apparent. The fact that there was not another candidate who was campaigning, my campaigning was much lighter.”
“She (Cordani) was not filing necessary campaign activity reports. She did not go to a forum in Amissville. And to this day she has not indicated what she intends to do with the position.”
Questions
Makela says, “It’s a very interesting and unfortunate situation. Frazier is pushing for change and his children are not in public school. And Cordani’s oldest son, Sean, is being home schooled. I respect the right to home school. But how can they come in and run the public schools?”
