Rappahannock News Staff Writer
The Architectural Review Board for Historic Resources met on Thursday, Nov. 11 to review Michael T. Leake’s application to install security and safety lighting to the front exterior of the Rappahannock National Bank.
Leake commented, “We were approved, based on a couple conditions.”
The board recommended a different light fixture than what was initially proposed. The original idea was to put a fixture that was, according to Leake, “more industrial than historic.”
Patrick O’Connell, owner of The Inn at Little Washington, drew a picture of a lamp he thought would be more appropriate to the town’s historic heritage.
Leake responds, “The recommendation by ARB was an idea not considered, but acceptable.”
Donna Kevis, proprietor of Gay Street Inn, acted as chairman at the meeting as Edward Barton was unable to attend.
Kevis commented, “The fixture that he (Leake) had picked out was very industrial.”
