BY LEE COGHLAN < Rappahannock News StafT Writer * Thanksgiving is just one week away and Rappahan-nock Social Services is gearing up to help those who aro in need to put a turkey . dinner on the table. V Every year the service collects from indit viduals and organizations and distribute the [turkeys. .. One of the largest contributors is Trinity ■< Episcopal Church. Last year more than 60 < turkeys were donated. The Rappahannock News spoke with Marilouise Bane who does the newsletter for the church and is now in charge of the turkey donations.
Bane says, “I fell into this because I do the newsletters and we do reminders. But our rector, Jenks Hobson, really got it started. He thought it would be a great ideal.”
“My efforts have been more or less to publicize it. We urge our congregation to each bring a frozen turkey up to the 19th and we turn it over to Social Services.”
Bane describes the growth of the endeavor, “When we started out, we had a good amount of turkey. We’ve had a great response. ■ It’s risen exponentially over the years. This is probably our fourth year.”
