“An Evening with the Muses,” the Ki Theatre concert kicking off Paul Reisler’s “Song Camp Weekend in the Country,” (Oct. 29) was but another most pleasant surprise. Not only was the audience treated to the familiar yet ever-mellowing Paul Reisler guitar and hammered dulcitner artistry, but a host of guests transformed the Ki into a Shangri-la of song.
Paul’s Song Camp co-host, Bill Parsons, teamed with guitarist Eric Weinberg to open the show. Parson’s smooth vocals (“...an emerging voice on the east coast folk music circuit” — New York Times ) was countered by Weinberg’s guitar in “Gloria’s Blues” and “Love is the Steepest Face” to give us just a hint of what one might find on the latest Parson release, “Special Delivery.”
Song Camp guest teacher and professor of lyric writing and poetry, Pat Pattison, engaged the audience with his wit and with two recent tunes, “Five by Seven” and “Nothin’ But the Truth.” Guest teacher Angela Kaset, SESAC’s 1997 County Songwriter of the Year, showed that her talent and success as a songwrit
