Plant Society to
host “treasure hunt”
On Sunday. April 14 at 2 p.m. the Virginia Native Plant Society. Rappahannock/Culpeper Region will be holding a native plant “treasure hunt” at Bruce and Susan Jones’ property. The event is open to members of the Virginia Native Plant Society and those persons who would like to join the organization.
“We will be identifying those native plants, mostly woodland species, that grace our Piedmont area. We should be able to see Trillium, Marsh Marigold, Virginia Bluebells, native Columbine, dwarf Iris. Wild Ginger and a host of other plants that should be blooming at that time. With luck, a few of the spring blooming shrubs/trees (viburnams, Red buckeyes, quince. Redbud, etc) should be at their prime,” said Mr. Jones. Please bring a wildflower book to assist in identification.
