The school budget is being ' considered now. Every year there are reoccurring questions about the schools and county finances. In this series of three articles, Headwaters, the Rappahannock County Public Education Foundation, will try to answer some of these questions with objective information about how our schools are financed and the progress they ' are making.
Why are Rappahannock County’s property taxes higher than most of our neighbors?
Public Schools are the largest expense in the budgets ! of Rappahannock County and our neighbors, Culpeper, Fauquier, Green, Madison, Page and Warren counties. Public Schools are paid for by a combination of state, local and federal funds, although federal funds are a very small part of the total.
