Eleventh grade student Aaron Wiesgerber, who has been studying with Mr. Flickinger for four years, is now doing an independent study in metal sculpture, and learning the art and technique of welding as he recycles metal scraps and objects to create an ornamental piece.
• Hearthstone has recently added a new course in photography, welcoming former Rage County News and Courier photographer Tbrrey Keane to the faculty. Her students are currently building a dark room in Hearthstone’s art annex as they learn the fundamentals of black and white photography, including composition and content in addition to the technical elements of film development.
Donations of some dark room equipment have been made but we are in need of a black and white enlarger. Ms. Keanealso plans to teach color photography and development.
