General Cullen A. Battle, CSA, of the Third Alabama Brigade had an illustrious career serving in Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia throughout the Civil War. He wrote a memoir of his exploits in 1905, shortly before he died. The University of Alabama Press is now publishing this memoir in a paperback edition which has been edited with commentaries by an eminent local Civil War historian, Dr. Brandon Beck, of Shenandoah University. The memoir is called Third Alabama!: the Memoir of Brigadier General Cullen Andrew Battle, Army of Northern Virginia.

This memoir will serve as the topic of Dr. Beck's presentation to the Blue Ridge Civil War Round Table this Tuesday, April 16 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Old Sperryville Bookshop, 44 Main Street, Sperryville (540) 987-8444.
