rom time-to-time, we have to explain why we do

things the way we do. Last week, we held a column

written by one of our favorite folks, Ben "Cooter" Jones, who over the past several months has -provided us with some really great observations on the •local scene in his Up in the Hollow" series. * The reason the column did not run is that Cooter - a •Democrat and former U. S. Congressman - is running 2for office again, this time for the 7th District seat in the HU. S. House of Representatives now held by Eric SCantor (R) of Henrico County. For the past couple of Jweeks, Cooter’s column has focused on the campaign. * But in the interest of balance and fairness, reporting »on political activities of either candidate must remain •the responsibility of the newspaper, and must center on ;the issues affecting the people of Rappahannock ;County. Not everyone understands this, or agrees with :us. " But in the meantime, we look forward to hearing 2from Cooter on other topics.
