Mr. Warner said that he recognized that the funding was not available in the school budget for a football program but he noted the significance of the private donations and the evidence presented that football is self-supporting in high schools and colleges. He pledged to “buy-a-player” and said that he is in favor of a football program “if we can get it started with private funds.”
