spring to play on a large field and Madison took advantage early scoring two quick goals as the Rapp girls struggled defensively. Madison barraged Rapp goalie Megan Wheatley with ten shots on goal in the first half. She stopped seven shots, but Madison netted their third goal near the end of the half as a lofted shot rolled off her fingertips. When the first half whistle blew Madison had built a 3-0 lead.
Neither team generated much offense the second half as both defenses tightened. Emma Dodd-Henze and Emma Hathaway bolstered the defense as Osha Kondori and Hannah Rosenbaum tried to push the ball down the field for Rappahannock. Second half keeper Kara Corbin had a couple big stops, but Madison was able to slice a shot through after a Rapp injury timeout. Lily Day’s shot near the end of the game just missed keeping Rappahannock from being shut out. With both teams tired and cold the final whistle blew.
