The Rappahannock Relay for Life is this Friday. The pre-Relay activities begin with registration and campsite set-up at 5 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Elementary School.
Cancer survivors are encouraged to register and come to the reception that will begin at 6 p.m. The official opening ceremony will begin at 6:30. The Relay itself will begin with the Survivor’s Walk at 7 p.m. All cancer survivors are urged to participate in this part of the Relay.
Following the Survivor’s lap, walkers from teams will continue the Relay throughout the night while other team members enjoy the activities, or sleep, or rest at their campsites. Some of the activities include:
• A fabulous picnic-since food is a must for all Rappahannock events;
• A puppet show, face painting, and a disc jockey to entertain both young and old;
• Choral groups and various other Rappahannock notables appearing throughout the evening;
• An education tent to provide information about fighting and detecting cancer;
• The lighting of the luminaries at dark in honor or memory of both cancer victims and cancer survivors;
• Midnight madness where pizza
