Soccer
The Varsity boys kept their district championship hopes alive last week with two big wins. The first win on Tuesday against Strasburg was a nice 6 to 0 victory, which everyone expected. Junior Ralph Pace led the scoring with three goals for the Rappahannock side, senior exchange student Komi had two goals and sophomore John Letsen added one. On Friday. May 10 the Panthers traveled to Nokesville to play Brentsville. A win would keep RCHS tied with the George Mason side. It was a hard played game and was tied 2 to 2 at the end of regulation.
Pace had two goals in the game including a penalty kick goal scored in overtime that gave the Panthers the win. The win keeps the Varsity boys tied for first in the district with a record of 8 wins, 2 loses and one tie. The JV boy's team remained winless this past week, losing to Brentsville on Friday.
The girl’s Varsity was off Tuesday because Strasburg does not, have a girl’s team. However on Friday, the Lady Panthers hosted the district leading Lady Tigers from Brentsville. The Rappahannock girls played much better then the first meeting between the two teams.
In the end however, the Brentsville side was too much for the home team and left with a 5 to 0 victory.
The Junior Panther boy’s soccer team had one game last week. The young team traveled to Cedar Lee Middle School in Fauquier County on Monday, May 6. Totally dominating the game, the JP side finally broke through with the winning and only goal of the game which was scored by Rappahannock’s Matt Lowery.
