If they could, the U-12 Purple People Eaters might try to reschedule the rest of their games to be played at Culpeper’s Comet Stadium. The Rapp girls played their first game ever there last Saturday and the change in venue must have been the good luck bounce they needed. Most of the first half was played between the two penalty circles as both teams were evenly matched. A few minutes before the first half whistle, Hannah Rosenbaum made a nifty lead pass to a charging Samantha Falls who lifted a shot just over the Culpeper goalie’s hands giving Rapp a 1-0 lead.
At the other end of the field, Rapp keeper Megan Wheatley was stopping four shots, while defensive standouts Emma Hathaway, Emma DoddHenze, and Jordan Lysaght threw a net over the Culpeper forwards.
Culpeper started the second half strong and challenged the Purple People Eaters with several early shots, but Rapp goalie Alicia Smith came up with them all. Alicia grabbed eight saves by the time the final whistle blew. Emma Hathaway saved a goal when she blocked a centering cross pass to an open Culpeper forward before she could take an open shot.
