"Child Find" at
DARE Day
May 31 will be DARE Day in Rappahannock
and in addition to dozens of exhibits, educational
activities and fun for youngsters of all ages the school system will also conduct a "Child Find” that day.
Parents with questions about their child's development are encouraged to bring their child between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on that day. A group of specialists will be on hand to talk with parents and answer questions.
In Rappahannock many programs are available that support families that have special needs such as: Virginia Cooperative Extension Service; Rappahannock County Health Department; Head Start; Child Care and Learning Center; Healthy Families; Infant/Toddler Connection of (Virginia) Rappahannock Rapidan (see accompanying letter on this page); Rappahannock County Public Schools; Rappahannock County Department of Social Services and the Rappahannock Family Guidance Services.
Bring your little ones oh DARE Day and take advantage of the Opportunity to meet the folks in the community who care about you and your children! Appointments to screen your child in speech, language, hearing, fine and gross motor skills and academic readiness may be made that day and you as a parent are on the way to a successful start. Public schools serve children from ages two to 21, and will screen children between birth and 21.
