It was a tough week for the “Boys of Summer,” as both Varsity and JV teams were unable to capture a victory home or away. On Tuesday, May 7, the Varsity traveled to Strasburg and suffered their second loss of the year to the district-leading Rams. Unlike an earlier close game here at Rapp that resulted in a 13-12 defeat to Strasburg this one was no contest. The Panthers garnered only 3 hits in a 10 to 0 loss under the lights at Strasburg.
Meanwhile, the JV Panthers hosted the JV Rams at home, but the outcome was the same. The Rapp JV was blanked 6-0 by Strasburg in an earlier contest this year. On Tuesday, the Rapp side managed to score three runs, but still fell 7 to 3 against the visitors.
On Friday, May 10 the Varsity hosted the secondplace Tigers from Brentsville District High School. Again the Panthers had found a way to make the first contest with the Tigers close, but this one wouldn’t be. With only a handful of hits and a weak pitching staff, there wasn’t much Head Coach Mick Strand could do. The Varsity lost this contest 12 to 1 and saw their record slip to 2 and 14 overall; 1 and 9 in the district.
The JV had traveled to Nokesville earlier in the day, but suffered the same consequence. Falling behind early, the JV Panthers went quietly losing 7-1 and eliminated their chance to play in the championship game.
