• Rappahannock County Public Schools: Child Find. Early Childhood Special Education: Children who have received services in thb program above may transition into the public school special education program. For other children, their challenges in learning may not be evident until they are older. Through the public schools, children 0-21 may be screened to see if she or he may need help to achieve full academic potential. Eligible children from age 3 to 21 may be served by the schools.
• Rappahannock County Department of Social Services: provides information and referral services to parents seeking help in meeting the needs of their families. Eligibility can be determined for Food Stamps, Medicaid and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families. Coordination with the Head Start program can provide child care assistance for eligible children. The relatively new Children's Medical Security Insurance Program allows more children to have medical coverage than ever before.
• Rappahannock Family Guidance Services: provides County residents a full array of confidential mental health and substance abuse services as well as services for the seriously mentally ill.
Bring your little ones on DARE Day and take advantage of the opportunity to meet the folks in the community who care about you anjd your children! A team of specialists will be available to answer questions about yov|r child’s development. Appointments with school staff may be scheduled to screen your child in speech, language, hearing, fine and gross motor skills and academic readiness.
