The Rappahannock Youth Soccer League played ifta sixth weekend of games, Saturday, May 11.
? U-8
' The U-8 Blue Panthers faced Madison 5 with only 50 percent of their squad, due to other player commitments. Playing the entire 40 minute match with no substitutes was a real challenge for the Blue Panthers. Bryn Sonnett and Billy Hogan scored for the team, however, the play of Peter Lee, Caitlin Humbles and Seth Wayland kept the competition close and a very exciting game! Next week, the U-8s face intercounty rivals and friends at RCES. Good luck Rapp!
U-10
, The U-10 girls, the Rapp Hurricanes, beat Culpeper 2-0 in a contest that was well played by both sides. The game could have easily gone either way. The first half ended 0-0. Morgan Flournoy put us ahead early in the second half on a penalty kick from the Culpeper goal box. The goalkeeper got a hand on it hut the force of Morgan’s shot into the corner made it unstoppable. Morgan followed with a second goal as Rapp forwards and midfielders flooded the goalie box.
Marcella Wallace had a great first half playing midfield and keeping the ball contained in the Culpeper end. She then made a number of diving saves as goalie with great defensive support from Isabelle Eastham. The whole team played wonderfully and are great in their support of each other.
