Sale and picnic at Hearthstone
Hearthstone School on US 211 west of Sperryville will hold a Community Yard Sale and Picnic on Memorial Day weekend, May 25 and 26. Items that were donated to the school will be on sale, including a Nordic Trak and other exercise equipment, a wood stove, furniture, men's suits, children's books, a cashmere coat with a fur collar, and many other things.
A free jacuzzi is available to whoever wants to haul it away. Local artists and craftspeople will be showing their work. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase; everyone is also welcome to bring their own food and use the school's picnic grounds. Vendor tables will be $10 each for anyone who wants to sell their wares. For more information, call the school at 987-9212.
Picnic for Ben Jones scheduled
An old-fashioned “down on the farm” picnic in support of Ben Jones for Congress will take place on Sunday. June 2 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Over Jordan Farm in Flint Hill, the home of Bill and Linda Dietel. All are welcome. Tickets are $25 per person (children free). Super Pantry course offered
“Super Pantry for Mom and Me” sponsored through a partnership between Virginia Cooperative Extension and Blue Ridge Food Bank will be held at Washington Baptist Church beginning May 21 for seven weeks from 9.30 a m. to 1:30 p.m.
Nutrition education for Moms and children ages four and up will be offered along with lunch, a bag of groceries each week, games and prizes. There will also be a Life Skills speaker each week. For child care and registration call Jan Besecker at 675-3619 or Judy Stevens at 727-3435.
Healing talk planned
“Can God Free Us From Fear. Despair, Disease?” will be the focus of a free public talk by Cynthia Neely, a Christian Science practitioner and teacher in the Fauquier High School cafeteria on Sunday, May 19 at 2:30 p.m. The talk is sponsored by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Warrenton and illustrates how Christian prayer brings healing.
