New watercolor paintings by local artist Carol “Lumier” Baliles will be featured in Long View Gallery in Sperryville. The show will run from May 16 through June 17 and there will be a reception for the artist on Saturday, May 18 from 4 to 7 p.m..i Everyone is invited.
Baliles is a Master Watercolorist whose work has been described as semi-abstract realism. She melds multiple levels of spirit, emotion, and energy into artistic visions that are alive with color, and creativity. Beginning with scenes from the Virginia countryside, Baliles uses flowing fields of watercolor and subtle abstract shapes to create stylized yet realistic renditions of the local landscape.
Baliles’ work has been shown in numerous fine art exhibitions throughout the world including the U.S. Department of State Arts in Embassies Program. She won the National Watercolor Society top honor, The Purchase Award and was included in the Society’s Watercolor U.S.A. Museum Traveling Show.
