these programs will have information available on DARE Day at Rappahannock Elementary School on May 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring your little ones and find out about the following programs:
• Virginia Cooperative Extension Service (4-H): The VCE has a variety of information on child development issues and will provide educational programs.
• Rappahannock County Health Department: This agency provides health care and immunizations, and information on health related issues, to children and adults.
• Head Start: A preschool program for income-eligible children. Head Start not only helps children get ready for kindergarten, but also has long-term educational and employment benefits.
• Child Care and Learning Center: CCLC provides affordable child care for children aged 0 to 5. The Head Start program is housed at the CCLC facility on Lee Highway. CCLC also provides an after-school program for children who need a nurturing place to be until parents return from work.
• Healthy Families: Infants need parents who can respond and communicate with them in ways that enhance their growth, maturation and communication skills. Infants given orderly, responsive parenting are typically able to adapt to the challenges of growing up in an emotionally healthy manner. Healthy Families is a program that provides education and support to parents.
• Infant/Toddler Connection of Virginia: provides free evaluations for children age birth to three that may have developmental delays. If a child needs help, service coordination is provided to the family and a plan is
