Hutcheson and Josh Makela performed in the Maroon Hokie Band and Andrew and Patrick Treanor were in the Gold Hokie Band.
“During the concert on Sunday afternoon, the kids performed challenging music with great spirit and enthusiasm. It was amazing, we were so very proud of our students,” said Kathryn Treanor, a chaperone for the weekend.
Wrapping up the honors was All-District XIV Honor Band which was held on February 4 and 5 at Millbrook High School. High school students Owen Monroe, Eve Nealon, Andrew Treanor, Patrick Treanor and Megan Wheatley and RCES students Morgan Cloud, Taylor Light, Heidi Rechin, and Kristin Taylor were all chosen through auditions held in the Fall. ’
A new performance group, the RCHS Jazz Ensemble has brought non-band students together with high school and middle school band students.
They rehearse on Monday and Wednesday evenings and are looking forward to their first concert appearance on March 10.
