county, dated Feb. 18, 2005, the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) advised that the Ibwn of Washington has applied for a Virginia Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (VPDES) permit.
The town’s application “proposes to discharge treated waste water from a municipal sewage treatment plant located south of Route 522.”
However, in recent meetings with the Tbwn Council, no location of a facility has been planned.
“There has been no determination at this time for placement of a facility,” stressed Tbwn of Washington mayor, Eugene Leggett. “We had to specify a point on the application.”
Leggett also pointed out that discharge into the Rush River is only one alternative and at this time, council’s options are wide open.
