“At Unicorn we have fun wines, a good atmosphere—a place where when people taste our wines, they will remember them,” he said.

The fun atmosphere is especially evident when looking at the names of the wines which are candidly referred to as Unicorn’s ‘herd’ of wines.

While most are standard labels, Whittaker’s blush wine has a humorous twist— Slightly Embarrassed.

“When I was first in the business,” Whittaker laughed, “someone told me that the term ‘blush’ was copyrighted and I would have to pay to use it.”

At that, Whittaker thought hard for a name that would indicate blush, but not use that exact term.

Suddenly it came to him, “Slightly embarrassed” and the label was designed, with the signature unicorn actually having a pale red cheek.
