The Wakefield Country Day School girls’ basketball team entered into the first round of Delaney Athletic Conference action, winning their first match-up against Word of Life Academy of Alexandria, 53-40.
The Owls got off to an early lead in the first period, outscoring Word of Life by 7.
However, the lead narrowed in the second period, the score at halftime leaving WCDS ahead, 23-13.
