THE LOSS OF A SPOUSE Many studies have looked into the effect that the death of a spouse has on the surviving spouse. In one recent study of over 55,000 older women, it was found that, despite the fact that the loss of a husband adversely affected the women's mental and physical health, the women tended to be resilient. They recovered from the loss as the months went on. They sought either professional help or social support in the community. Some learned more positive ways to cope. Others, who had been caring for a sick or disabled spouse, now realized that their lives would be less stressful. Each learned to cope with her loss in her own time and in her own way. Finding resources outside oneself is what is so important when it comes to recovering from a devastating loss, like that of one's life partner. At the MOSER FUNERAL HOME, 233 Broadview Ave., Warrenton, we take care of you when you come to us, and we are professional in all our dealings. Call us at 347-3431 to set up an appointment.

"It is impossible that anything so natural, so necessary, and so universal as death should even be designed as an evil to mankind."
