New VDOT
resident engineer
County Administrator John McCarthy introduced the Rappahannock-Fauquier Virginia Department of Transportation resident engineer to the Board of Supervisors, Dave Cubbage.
Cubbage spoke briefly to the VDOT projects which are ongoing and proposed in Rappahannock County.
Current!y, bridges located on Route 600 in Sperryville and Route 619, also known as Lizzie Mills Road are on schedule for renovation.
Cubbage also told the board that future plans have been made to replace the guard rail from the top of Skyline Drive down to Sperryville, Rt. 211, with rustic rail.
Rustic rail is weathered steel, which is consistent with what VDOT plans to put throughout Rappahannock County.
Also concerning Skyline Drive, McCarthy presented a proposal to the board regarding the designation of Skyline Drive becoming an All American Road by the Federal Highway Administration.
This designation would encourage tourism on Skyline Drive, which would also encourage tourism in Rappahannock County and would also allow the Shenandoah National Park to receive federal finding for the roadway.
In an unanimous vote by the present board members, the Board of Supervisors encouraged VDOT to endorse the;
