From an early age, Wendy was drawn to the theatre and all that it could offer especially for children.
“Music and drama should above all else be enjoyable,” said Weinberg when her Theatre was in its infancy.
“Heavy and ponderous works, unenlivened by wit and humor, will not encourage youngsters to attend performances.”
In addition to offering two seasons each year of masterful plays, classical piano recitals, bluegrass bands, Celtic fare or trios from the Smithsonian, Weinberg opens The Theatre to several local groups including the Washington Baptist Church for their variety show and the Lions Club for their Annual Bland Concert.
Another community event held at The Theatre is the upcoming Martin Luther King, Day Observance.
Long-time resident and consummate fan Mitzi Young remembers the theatre at a more fledgling period of its life before Wendy’s magic hand.
