struggles to win
Varsity basketball at RCHS is struggling this season, as both girls and boys teams continue to go winless. The Lady Panthers are 0-8, and most of their losses have been fairly commanding, although they stayed close in both games against nearby rival Luray. They face Madison County away on January 4 at 7:30.
The RCHS boys are in similar trouble. They are 0-9, and they have never finished closer than eighteen points behind their opponents. If they don’t step it up, they could be facing their second winless season in a row, something new head coach Bobbu Czekaj vowed would not happen. The problem is the same one all RCHS sports teams face, the problem of bigger schools with more students to draw from. More students usually means bigger kids on the basketball team and more kids to put on the court if some get injured. RCHS is fighting an uphill battle, and it is starting to show.
