nity to pick up this burden, and go spend their Christmas holiday at the county offices, if they are open, so they can do their own analysis of the tax structure, and the assessments of the surrounding properties, and then go make a case to the board of assessors to see if they can get any justice. That is, of course, assuming you can do all that by the deadline.
There has to be a better way. When I was told I could write a letter, I was also told that the assessors work for the board of supervisors. Our only hope appears to be that our elected representatives will forge a modicum of fairness from a process that appears to have run amok.
And, please note, I am not saying peopleware doing things for nefarious reasons, and I am not ascribing bad intent to anyone. It’s even possible that if we were all real estate agents and land speculators and we only bought a piece of this heaven to sell and make money from it, then, maybe you could make some sense from it. But, to those of us to whom this ground was home, is home, and forever will be home ... at least, as long as we can afford it ... the current process raises more questions than it provides answers.
