envisioned for the Rappahannock County Public Schools. Students in grades 11 and 12 who take the RCHS Personal Fitness classes now have a facility that is stocked with high quality equipment of the sort they will find in commercial fitness clubs. Over 250 students in grades 8, 9, and 10 also have access to the center during their PE classes at intervals throughout the school year. As a result, students have a better understanding of some of the indicators and components of fitness such as Body Mass Index, Target Heart Rate, and aerobic exercise.
With the guidance of teachers and coaches, more students are designing and following personal fitness programs that will help them become fit now and stay fit as adults.
After school and during the summer all public, private, and home-schooled students who reside in Rappahannock County are entitled to free membership in the “Rapp-fitness” center. This provides access to fitness opportunities in a supervised environment year-round.
